YouTube Channel

Whether it’s just starting out or you’re trying to grow an established channel, there are a lot of different strategies that I’ve found very effective, and they’ll help get your videos seen more by other people like me who enjoy them.

Starting a youtube channel is easy, but growing one takes strategy. And it’s not a matter of luck or chance. There are steps you can take to help make the whole process and grow along the way.

So without further ado, here are the top 10 ways I think can be of help to everyone starting out or just trying to grow a small Youtube channel.

1. Assume You Will Fail

It’s important to be real with yourself. If you think your channel is going to grow very fast, you will be in for a rude awakening. Youtube is a very competitive environment. And in order to be successful, it takes hard work and strategy. The key here is consistency.

2. Popular

Not because you think it’s going to magically get popular, but because you want to make sure your channel has some subscribers. The next step to growing a channel is getting those subscribers. And if your videos are not very good, or if no one likes them, how will you get the people to subscribe?

3. Create an Attractive Channel URL

One of the most important things a channel needs is an attractive URL; otherwise, it will not be found. It’s also the name I give my YouTube account. If you do not have a good one, you will never be found on Youtube.

4. Have Fun

If you make your channel about how to grow a youtube channel, there is a very good chance that no one will watch your youtube videos because they are just boring. Find some way to make it fun and engaging by showing off your personality. And if it’s still not working out, do something different completely and let go of the channel idea now.

5. Be Consistent

If you are consistent with your content, keeping your subscribers will be much easier because it will look like you have a popular channel. The key here is to have new content come out at least once a week.

5. Have a Point of View

Being consistent is important, and that’s why having a point of view or having your videos tell some kind of story is so important. It keeps the audience coming back because they want to know what happens next. If all you are doing is reading off a list, it’s going to be very boring.

6. Be Engaging

On the flip side of having a point of view, you need to engage with your viewers and other people who watch your videos. The best way to do that is to start a conversation by having comments open on all your videos. And if you are making a video that is controversial, be prepared for some backlash and respond with class and tact.

7. Have a Presence on Social Media

Being active on social media is just as important as having regular content on your channel. You need to find ways to get people to follow you on social media, like Instagram and Facebook. And once you start making some friends, don’t be afraid to ask them to check out your videos and subscribe.

8. Have an About Page

Not every video creator has an about page, but it’s a very valuable tool because it tells the viewers what they are going to get from watching your videos. And if you want to grow your channel, it’s even more important because you need to be able to clearly articulate why people should stick around and watch your videos and what they can expect from coming back.

9. Interact with Viewers

If you are going to grow a channel and eventually become a successful youtube channel, you need to connect with other people who have the same interests as you. But the best way is by answering questions left in the comments on all your videos.

And do not ignore those comments. I don’t care if you can no longer answer a comment; at least acknowledge that you got it, and you will get back to them later.

10. Be Realistic

There are a lot of ways to grow a channel, but these are some of the most important ones. But don’t be fooled by overnight success stories because those kinds of things do not happen in youtube land, especially if you’re trying to grow without having a lot of money. It takes time and work, and there is no other way to do it.

Bonus:

1. Have a Great Title

Without a good title, people are not going to click on your video. And if they do not click on your video, there is no way for you to get that channel into the front page of Youtube and make other people see them. So spend time creating a great title that will paint a picture for the viewer and sell your videos in an attention-grabbing way so they will want to check out more content from you.

2. Have a Great Description

The description is another piece of the puzzle that is going to help you grow your channel. The description will help set the mood for your viewer and get them excited about what’s coming after the video ends.

Your description will also increase the chances of people subscribing to you and leaving a comment on your videos. If you do not have a great description, find someone who does have one and ask them to write one for you.

3. Make thumbnail clickable

While watching Youtube videos, have you ever seen a thumbnail that looked interesting, but when you clicked on it, the video was completely different?

It makes people want to give up on your channel right away. So make sure your thumbnail is a clickable image that will take the viewers directly to the video and see what they are getting themselves into before they even click play.

Final thought:

Most people will never really be successful on Youtube and watching their videos, but everyone has the potential to grow a channel.

The key is to focus on having content that people want and engaging with them, not being afraid of taking risks because if you play your cards right, most of your risks will come back to you when you’re eventually successful.

And as always, I am not a professional, and this is based on my personal experience growing my youtube channel. Your mileage may vary. I do not take credit for everything in this article.
